KPV is a tripeptide with the sequence Lys-Pro-Val, corresponding to the C-terminal three residues (11-13) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It is one of the shortest peptides in routine research use and, unlike the full alpha-MSH sequence, carries none of the melanocortin receptor-binding region.

Storage and handling
